That kind of sucks.
Everyone at work says don't play games on the computer - but the people who play games end up learning a lot more about how to do things on the internet.
For example, most of the non-gamers don't know how to talk in a chat room, don't have IM, have never designed a web page, and many don't even have email.
Games are a great way to learn about the internet and the world.
I do have to add that there is a balance, and sometimes it's appropriate at school to turn off the games and listen to the teacher.

It's not stupid. As a high school teacher who teaches out of a computer lab it makes a lot of sense. Many of the "free games" students play are actually not free at all. Most games contain spy ware, ad ware or worse .... viruses that can severely cause damage to your school's server.
In addition, downloading these games also uses up valuable memory on the computers/individual accounts and slows Internet access for other students who legitimately need it.
More importantly, as a number of people have already pointed out, school is more than just playing games. You have a job to do and that is to learn. I play games too, but only when I get home from school and my work is done.

wow that is pretty strict .. but i kinda understand how you feel cuz i remember back in my school days (the 90's) ..it was the beginnings of the internet era.. the teachers wouldn't let us do anything except research - we couldn't check emails, use ICQ(back then), or check out information about celebrities and stuff - we could use it only for serious research stuff ~ anywayz you can play games when u're at home so that's still ok. unless ur school is a boarding school.....

You shouldn't be going on game websites at school anyway. You go to school to learn. Save the games for when you get home.
