Women do not want boyfriends that treat them like dirt. The trouble is that they are the only ones who are asking!
If you want a girl, then approach her. Start talking to her about a subject you both take. Get to know her a little. THEN ask her out. She'll probably be tickled pink.

I don't think that assumption is always true. However, scarcity is sometimes seen as indicating value. So, if something is scarce or hard to attain, it may be valued more. Volvo knew this, and early on in their development, simply raised the price of their cars. Being more expensive, people considered them better cars. Similarly, if a male's attentions are hard to get, the male may be valued more. Another way to look at it, is that women tend to use flirtation as a means of controlling social situations, and feel a lack of control or closure when they are ignored by a certain person.

Good question and please don't take my answer as sexist, because I believe in equality.
I do know that if you want to make an impression on a female, all you have to do is ignore her and then you will get some attention. I am not sure if it is one of those mysteries of psychology, but my theory is that human vanity is mostly present in females and vanity is what makes them notice those who ignore them. Just human nature.

well this is more often during the dating phase. the majority of the guys stare at women, but there are only a few who dont do that. These attract more women, since women go for special stuff ;)
However later on during the relationship, or marriage life, women crave for attention, but unfortunately they dont always get it.

I see this all the time, it is an odd thing. I think it comes down to the chase thing. The thrill of chasing something, playing the game and trying to win. Getting something you want, but you might not be able to have or handle.

because the worst thing in the world is to not be acknowledged. it offends our emotions, and sense of what makes us women. But I believe that this is also true of men as well. They call it a conquest. Think about it

it's really a matter of 'the hunt is better than the catch'. women are prone to think that the guy ignoring them is better because he has better things to do than see her. plus they need the thril of flirting and doubting the success of a future relationship, makes them think it's more of a game.

Simple, women, just like men, want the chase more than the kill. Also, women want to change a man, as men hope their woman won't change.

it has to do with wanting what on the other side of the fence.
often when the woman gets the guy she realizes he isn't what she thought he would be like, not always mind you but in most cases
