I was wondering how they (particularly the lead) were able to go that high.
It also seemed like he could sing two different ways; (a) what most people would probably consider normal singing, but abnormal in the pitch, and (b) a really high voice, that usually sounded kind of hoarse compared to the other voice.

Practice, practice, practice. If you want another example of a lead singer whose voice does things that no human voice can do, check out some of the early albums by Bride--especially SNAKES IN THE PLAYGROUND and one of their compilation albums, END OF THE AGE. Other than that, why not write to the bands and ask them? :-)

Evanescence can sing circles around any christian band, and she doesnt give off bad energies, like christians do.

He smoked weed thats how he got that high, christian rock is a sad imitation of real rock.
