The Pope did not say anything wrong warrenting an apology. But still he did it as a person of fine culture when he came to know that his comments has offended the sentiments of certain people . Really the Pope has not said anything bad about Islam , of his own. He only refereed to the comment of some king about the existence of some ferses in theKUran. It is seen that in p[aragraph 9 of chapter 29 of kuran , it is commanded that the polytheists who are non-beliefers should be convrted to Isl;am by force and if they do not accept they should be killed. .
What efer is said in any scripture , that might have been relevant tothe time it was said .Now to practice it would be bad .and will create violence and destruction in the world . It is not known what the Muslims have ro say about the instruction regarding the forcible conversion and killing of the non-belieers in Kuran.
it may be pointed out that the chritians also converted people to the faith by thepower of sword iin the name of Holy crushade , though it is not provided for in the bible . so people who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others.
In that respect , the demand of the muslims for an apology from the pope might be justified. For the pope belongs to a religon that practiced wht he has referred to as bad in theKuran.. Kuran has it in writing and christinaity did is in practice .
So there is no justification for any religon finding fault with anyother religons .
Only when somebody commits violencein the name religon , the world should take it over , which ever religion might be resorting to violence .
The pope did not have to apologize to any particular person. but to the Muslim community in general..And it seems that he has done it .

He already apologized and shouldnt have. He simply stated a historical fact. Maybe Cathoilics should march in the streets everyday considering the damage done daily in the name of islam. But of course Catholics would be considered to be overreacting. Its funny how Muslims are considered to be venting their rage in a healthy way by the media , who is poltically correct and afraid of more Muslim outcrys. Wake up people, Islam is a true danger.

I don't think he should apologise. He made an unwise and unfortunate speech, but wasn't offensive at all. Unfortunately, the Arab papers or some trouble makers took a line out of context and you can see what happened...

For what he should apologize? he has merely quoted a fact of history. A statement of truth or facts is no defamation.
