I have a double car garage with a metal ,uninsulated ,roll up 4 panel door. It is extremely noisy ,mostly vibrating type noises. The roller wheels are steel with a thin plastic "tires". Are soft wheels available ? Do you think insulating the panels would help. The garage door opener and and long lifting screw seem to be reasonablty quiet. Thanks for your intrerest.

white lithium grease, available at wal mart, home centers etc... you can even get it in a spray can. spray the axels of your wheels and the tracks. You are hearing metal grinding on metal. WD-40 might quiet it for a couple days, then you will be stuck with the same problem, WD-40 is for water displacement, that is what it is formulated for, great for preventing rust, not much else. Grease every couple months, your door will run quieter. Grease is a thick lubricant and will hold out longer than a thin coat of a liquid.

sounds to me that the springs have become loose or stretched, try tighten them or if a single over the top of the door tighten it....u may need to check to see if ur door has "racked".....this would not allow the door to track properly.......also, spray the hings and rollers with WD 40, to oil the rollers...

dont use wd40. it collects dust and will make it worse in the long run. use a thick grease. put it in the tracks. no alot, just a little all along the tracks.

You might try lubricating the rollers with WD40.
