It is too handy of a way for the Fed to monitor and track every individual in the US; who is connected to whom, what they're doing, all kinds of confirming info, let alone illegal activities.

Private industry would just mess up the works; how about all of those laws concerning US mail?

I assume you mean, are there any post offices availible for lease? Best bet is to contact the General Services Administration, the US Government's procurement and asset management arm.
