It is too general a question. Inventions have evolved from previous inventions. What good is a wheel without the axle that turns it, electricity is no good unless you can produce it and use it,Once you set these applications in motion then other inventions ensue.
One of greatest discoveries was the ability to use fire.
But for me it has to be language, the art of communicating that is man's greatest invention.

Writing.
Accumulated knowledge makes everything else possible: communal granaries, cities, roads, vehicles, advanced thought like the importance of Life, Liberty and talking things through rather than using violence to take revenge for an insult.

One could argue concrete, one could argue electricity, or the wheel, or antibiotics, or modern plumbing, or steel, or the printing press, or language....

But the WORST invention is religion.
