Grey hair is just part of the natural ageing process. Its basically caused by your hair running out of pigment. There special cells at the hair shaft as you age the cells just stop making as much pigment. People with white hair produce no pigment at all while people with grey hair still produce pigment but not as much as people who still have their natural hair colour.

You can start to develop grey hair at basically any age, my friend was totally grey by the age of 16. Its also linked to genetics.

"Gosh PlAy_GuRl,
I sincerely hope this answer is adequate for you.

Gray hair is typically a result of natural aging. Pigment in the hair shaft comes from special cells at the root (base) of the hair. These cells are genetically programmed to make a certain amount of pigment (melanin) at specific ages. At some point in the aging process, these cells make less and less pigment until the hair has very little pigment. White hair has no pigment, and gray hair has some but not as much as a red, black or brown hair.

Not all hairs respond in the same way or at the same time. So the graying process usually is gradual. You can't prevent graying. Some people start graying in their 30s, and some not until their 60s. Genetics likely play a strong role in graying.

People rarely go gray overnight. If they do, it's typically due to alopecia areata. This condition causes the thicker, darker hairs to stop growing before it affects the growth of gray hairs — giving the impression of graying overnight. Alopecia areata eventually causes roundish patches of hair loss or complete loss of hair on the head or body. Its cause isn't known."

I think it was my teen-aged children. However, it is genetics. You either have good genes and you keep thick and colorful hair later in life....or you have the other kind of genes....where you start getting gray in your twenties. Most of us, fall in the middle somewhere and it starts creeping up on us in our 40's.

An encounter with God sometimes causes it. Didn't you see what happened to Charlton Heston in The Ten Commandments?

It's part of getting old.
Your hair simply runs out of pigment. Pigment is your body's natual coloring. (Eyes, hair, eybrows..)Just like an ink cartridge.. it keeps getting lower and lower until it run out complety. You can refil ink. Now you can refill you hair from a box.

Stress can change your hair color.

The other thing is age.
