It's just you! I was born in London (Wembley) and I'm certainly FAR from being rude and obnoxious. Not only that but on the whole I am liked. I'm living in Manchester and my accent is rather pronounced. The only problem I've had is that *sometimes* people tell me I'm arrogant or think I'm better than they are because I had a boarding school eduction despite the fact that *I* don't think or act that way. Infact I HATED boarding school and was bullied relentlessly for the 4 years I was there and infact think that makes me MORE tolerant and sensitive to other people, not less. PLEASE do not generalise ok? Sorry you've experienced rudeness and obnoxiousness from some Londoners but we're not ALL like that I assure you.

I think it is not just Londoners. I think that most people dislike people from their capital country. I know this to be true of France and Spain.
I believe that most capital cities have the most to offer as far as work, entertainment, culture etc. Could it be that people living in these cities are just so used to having everythng in one concentrated space, that they feel that anywhere else in that country is dull and boring?
The attitude that they are living in the best place in the country often comes across as arrogance. Henmce people not liking them.
Only an idea.

We have all sorts of people from almost every nation living here in London, so I don't know who you refer to when you say 'Londoner.' London has scored highly in many polls about welcoming tourists. I have spoken to many people on the internet who have visited London and loved the friendly atmosphere in pubs, markets and elsewhere. London is second to none and we have a long history which is the envy of the world.

I am a Londoner, and I don't care whether people like me or not. If they offend me they get a knuckle sandwich.
That says it all doesn't it ? (It's called irony )
