Earthquakes are most common at the point where the tectonic plates meet each other. There is a lot of shifting, movement and pressure. Take a look at a map of the tectonic plates. It is no coincidence that the most common areas for volcanoes is along these fault lines. One thing that is very interesting also is the tsunami. Remember the big tsunami that struck Indonesia? It was caused by an earthquake under the ocean surface.

Perhaps it would be more interesting if you gave the name and what they were famous for. Vesuvius is in Italy and famously buried the entire roman city of Pompeii, mostly in a layer of ash that then solidified. It is now a tourist attraction, I've been there and its great.
I would include the big volcano that erupted recently and entombed 2 watchers who took refuge in a concrete bunker. They cooked alive, proving once and for all that molten lava is a lot hotter than you can possibly imagine.
