I've been wondering the same thing! I am Catholic and when those disgusting priests were outed for hurting children I was appalled and let everyone know that I thought the acts and the cover ups were disgusting!
I was condemned by my own in-laws for not denouncing the Catholic faith. I feel that the Catholic faith and its politics are two very different things .These priests were only using the Catholic religion and the church for their own sick pleasures. I am also disturbed when people bow before the Pope and kiss his ring. I admit I don't know enough about my own religion to debate this.

Maybe this is how Muslims in the general public feel. They may not understand why the extremists are committing these horrible acts. They may not agree with them but their thoughts are only heard by those around them. I agree that the media is partly to blame for this. The government too. They devote a whole sentence or two to dispelling the myth that all Muslims are terrorists.

I am very surprised that after Sept. 11th they haven't joined together and stood up for themselves! Why haven't sane, God fearing Muslims in the Middle East banded together and put an end to all the terrorist's insanity?

That is a very good question. I think it is because they support what the extremists are doing. They don't speak out publicly in support of terrorists because then the whole world would see who they really are and what they believe. I have seen nothing to prove that Islam is a peaceful religion. I realize that people all over the world from different faiths use their religion as a reason to hurt others but I can't think of one that is so widespread and in such big numbers as Islam.

absolutely true , i am in india where terrorism has crept into our daily lives
hardly u come across Muslims who denounce such acts
and yet when some one criticises Islam all are up in arms defending Islam,
thazz sheer double standards
i have nothing against Islam, but Muslims shud stand up against the violence being perpetuated in the name of Islam.

I have heard one or two out of over a billion. Even these don't really condemn it, they say nice things like these people do not represent Islam or couch their outrage in shared blame with the US. They are pathetic.
