Taking out the two screws does not release the handle. I am not sure how the handle is secured to the shaft or how to tighten the shaft.

Maybe there's a screw long enough to cross the 4x4??
because two screws cannot hold the weigh of kids!

There may be a cover hiding the two screws you need to find to tighten the handle.THere should be a very small notch in the cover against the door on the locking side. Use a small screwdriver to pry it off. You may also have to take off the handle. There is a latch in a slot on the tube of the handle that you push in, again with a screwdriver, and pull the handle off.

If this is an outside door handle the round plate should screw on the shaft to make it tighter. If you want it out take the cylinder out of the side of the door

It isn't the two screws on the side of the door,
look for the two screws on the inside door handle, they should be at least 2 inchs long
.

The knobs are screwed onto the shaft, they do not just pull off after set screws are loosened.
