The answer is, it depends on you and your cycle. Whereas theoretically it is possible to get pregnant during unprotected intercourse at any point in your cycle (since sperm can live 5 days in your body), in reality, it is statistically unlikely to happen either during your period or the next day. But everyone is different.

I highly recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler, see the website www.tcoyf.com, a book every woman should read, whether interested in natural methods of birth control or not. It shows how so many things in a woman's life are affected by her menstrual cycle. Once you learn about your own cycle and your own body, and begin charting it, you can ascertain the days that you can have unprotected sex without getting pregnant - its called the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM) and it does work, assuming you understand it and use it properly. It worked for me - I avoided pregnancy for years with it, and when I wanted to get pregnant, I did - three times!

For most women (but not all) the first couple of days after your period ends is a safe time to have unprotected sex. But you must know about your own cycle and your own body before you can be sure of this, it is not universally true for every woman. For example, some people think they are having their period when they are actually having ovulatory spotting, so having sex at this time would increase your chance of getting pregnant. People ovulate at different times in their cycle.

Of course this doesn't provide any kind of protection against HIV or STDs.

But hey, if you're the gambling type, and you are determined to have unprotected sex for one day in the month when you are not on your period, this would be the least likely time to get pregnant. But you would be taking the risk!

Yes it is possible to get pregnant at any stage in your cycle but you are at a point where it is less likely for you to get pregnant. The best time to get pregnant is 14 days from the first day of your period. So that is the time to refrain if you dont want a baby.

It is POSSIBLE to get pregnant any time you have sex. But the probability is a lot lower than if you have unprotected sex in the middle of your menstrual cycle. If you're trying to get pregnant, then have sex as much as you want, and good luck. If you're not trying to get pregnant, then tell your man to wrap his stuff, every time you have sex.

it is unlikely to get pregnant a day after your period as this period happens to be your safe period. 10 days starting from a day after your period is regarded as your safe period 8 days after this is your unsafe period and you are more likely to get pregnant during this period

regrettably, somewhat achievable. in fact, you will get pregnant even throughout your era. each female cycles in yet in any different case. in spite of the fact that there are in user-friendly terms some situations in the process the month that a female can grow to be pregnant it may, in fact, ensue at ANY 2nd so so you might use protection each time to evade undesirable pregnancies.
