If you're using the same machine that you had before XP, then nothing has really changed.

Check your machine to see how much upgrading you need to do. Run this test and look for the areas where there are red marks. Those are the areas you need to address.

The Sims 2 for PC is an incredible game. But not all computers can run it. The expansions will need yet more resources so they have separate tests:

I build my own computers and have found that most computers are designed to do office work and light computing. Many people who happen to have 'a computer' are trying to turn these office computers into gaming machines. Unfortunately the experience will not be optimal.

Our first Sims 2 develop right into a kit which got here with Sims 2, Nightlife and BonVoyage --- far more cost-effective as a kit set then buying the three one at a time. Sims 2 is a exciting and addictive sport!

Check to make sure your PC specs are high enough to run the Sims 2 game.

Minimum Requirements:
If you have a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM then you need at least:

800 MHz processor or better
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, ME, 98 or 2000
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space.

If you have a non-T&L capable video card (an Intel Extreme Graphics or a Radeon 7000/VE Series) then you need at least:

2.0 GHz processor or better
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space

Those are the minimums for Sims 2

I play the Sims 2 also and I can tell you mine freezes too! My guess is you might need more memory or something. Try that. also you might try defraging your computer. Sometimes that helps. Im not an expert but I tried, Good Luck!
Since you play Sims do you know if sims online still exists?

i would re-install. then check the website for patches. i had these sorts of problems too but it was when i got the expansions. we ended up getting a new video card for about a hundred bucks. now it runs awsome. good luck

Do your CD got a lot of scratches on it. Does it got syrup food or anything on it if you do you need to clean it with water. This what I do I put it under water and put rinse it off then get a paper towel and clean it off
