One time I was around this guy I wasn't interested in but I was comfortable with but I sighed alot and he thought there was something wrong with me concerning him. Which wasn't. Any ideas?

sighing is a lot like yawning

it is the brains way of getting rid of some excess hormones or getting ready for a new task or even making the brain ready to absorb new information.

Good Question by the way

sighing is a way to relax and let the oxygen into our lungs. often mistaken by others as something being wrong. I've had people think this of me at work. of course this is a stressful place. in front of possible romantic situation try to relax and not take such a deep breaths.

I have to say social conditioning. Animals sight to relax the chest and back muscles, often before falling asleep or after a good meal. For humans however, sighting has a large number of conotations, most of them learned during the first 7-10 years of our lifes.
For instance, sighting can mean:
- boredom
- sadness
- happynes
- wellbeing

It is also used to transmit a message to the other people around us and ilicit a sympathetic response. For exemple:
I am in the room with my boyfriend who is reading. I am feeling ingnored and I let him know by emitting a low frequency (quiet) sight. If he were a nice guy he will ask me who I feel, or just reach out and touch me. But since he is an insensitive jerk, he will pretend he didn't hear, which will ilicit me to kick him in the nuts.
