Wrong? That's ridiculous. If you have great legs, whatever your age, go ahead and rock the mini-skirt! I mean honestly, I don't know who these age-nazi's are who keep insisting that women "dress their age." If someone can define precisely what that means I'm all ears. Dressing is much more about your body type and personality than your age. Depending on how you accessorize, etc. you can look very sophisticated, adult and sexy in a miniskirt. I'm also 42, and people might say I shouldn't wear the slightly low-rise boot cuts I like. But hell, they flatter me and the supposedly age appropriate tapered legs (which flattered me when I was 20) do not. Actually those jeans flatter no one who has the good fortune of possessing a pair of hips.

I would have to see you in the mini skirt before I could comment on whether you should wear it or not. For some at 42 a mini skirt is fine. For others at 16 a mini skirt is a disaster. Age should not be the deciding factor when considering fashion.

Depends on how you're built. A 500 lb woman should not wear a mini skirt (or any other tight clothing, for that matter) but it looks good on a well-toned and athletic body of normal weight & build.

It really depends on fashion for your part of the country. Around here everyone old or young is pretty bare so not a big deal at all if you're over 40. However, young or old, you should wear clothing that flatter your figure. I know a young, pretty girl who is short with really big hips and short stubby legs who wears them and they don't look good on her at all especially when she wears them with flats. She'd look beautiful though in a sexy top with a long skirt, maybe with a split. Make sure the skirt flatters you if you do wear it.

If you got it, flaunt it! If your body is in sharpe to wear a mini skirt, then go for it. Age has nothing to do with it. And 42 is not old.

Work it girl!

i think the prevailing rule is if ya got it, flaunt it, but if you don't got it, they'll call you too old :) there are plenty of people who have no business wearing a miniskirt, but the ones that are 42 get comments like "you're too old to wear that" rather than "omg you have chubby knees and you look awful" do you know what i mean, neither one is nice, but it seems a more socially acceptable for whatever reason to imply "you should be more mature" than "you should be skinnier."

Yes, of course it's fine. Your friend is probably jealous, knowing she would never have the guts to wear one. My mum is almost 10 years older than you and she wears miniskirts. When people have an issue with how other people dress, I can't help but find it incredibly shallow and very judgemental. You are not dressing to make other people happy, only yourself. If you've got it............you know the rest. Take care : )

definitely not. its okay to wear skirts, but when you're 42? I'm sorry, thats like a grandma walking around with a thong hanging out of her pants, talk about gross. try knee length skirts or skirts just above the knee, but definitely not mini skirts. make sure your clothes fit, but not so theyre tight or short. dont be afraid to buy the next size up either, believe me it looks a lot better if you buy the next size up rather than trying to squeeze into a size that doesn't fit you.

you know, it takes no time in any respect to Google photos from the era. In my own journey, because of the fact I grew up interior the 60s, older women (thirty and up) wore skirts or outfits that went to mid-knee or so, youthful girls wore shorter skirts to mid-thigh. i do no longer bear in strategies any women with skirts to easily below the buttocks. I grew up in Montreal, Quebec which grew to become into between the fewer conservative places in Canada yet very Catholic. today's booty shorts and pores and skin tight pants show greater suitable than 60s fashions.

If you are comfortable wearing it, then wear it!. As long as everything is covered and you can't be arrested for indecent exposure then it is no one else's business how you dress. If you are at work I guess that is a different story, they may have a dress code or something. But tell your friend not to be so anal. Could you friend possibly be jealous of you?
