She's naturally pretty, she doesn't even try and she's beautiful.....she has long dark hair, tan skin, dark eyes and very tall and proportionate/slender.....she always gets compliments but when she does she sort of just looks away. I mean, she's confident in herself and her skills but not in her looks....I think it was because when she was growing up her dad was always putting down her looks calling her ugly and fat, its messed her up to where she doesn't think she's attractive at all. What can I do to help her?

Yes this happens with a lot of women. You can't make her think she's beautiful. She'll feel beautiful by herself when the time comes.

Well I also have that problem myself. Everyone keeps giving me compliments, but i too just look away and ignore them. My WHOLE family put me down when i was a child. I'm starting to forget what thet told me and live my life. I tell myself everyday I don't look like what I did a long time ago. Lokk @ me now. I'm pretty(natrually) And sometimes that helps. But she's different. Some people can't heal just from people telling them that they are pretty. She has to figure it out.

You are helping her by being a Friend towards her. Keep trying to build her confidence as far as her appearance goes, I am sorry to hear about the verbal and emotional abuse she received from her Father, that is a shame, but as she gets older, and with positive reinforcement, she will be OK.
Your a good friend.

Take up photography. Let her be one of your subjects and have her take a more objective view of herself. And above all, keep being her friend through thick and thin because that will make her feel more beautiful than anything.
