Well the upside is that the trailer for my student short was featured on the Youtube page containing yours!

Well the answer to your question is no, I don't and nobody else likes student movies, BUT you want feedback, which I could do.

Was the camera supposed to be that shaky? Just a normal handheld, trying to keep it stable should have been sufficient for effect. The thing looks like you're standing on a railway platform -- oh, wait...

The first half shows the guy waiting for and then following some other guy. It would have to be suspenseful to provide any kind of motivation for that investment of time. I think you know it's not there, and I think the reason why is that we don't have a solid POV with the camera. I kind of like the shots and what you're doing but I think it needs to stay more subjectively tied to the main character to give us something to cling to in a sequence with no dialogue and nothing but observation. Do you understand what I'm, saying? If not you could e-me.

Obviously sound, especially in the cafe or whatever, is something you need to work on. You need some lavalier mics or something.

Setup for the two guys in the cafe is very plain and not dynamic enough, I think. Then the guy and the girl setup is TOO dynamic. I think you just went a little overboard with the latter, you could try shooting a couple different types of coverage and then decide which ones works in editing later.

Finally the end doesn't quite work. Largely the acting doesn't work, but also we don't have any idea why this person would suddenly have been hit by a car, it just sort of happens. Happenstance can make good plot, but not when it isn't tied into anything--

Unless it was tied in and I didn't get it. Maybe the dialogue I couldn't hear had something to do with it. That all leads into the last part though, which is that I think the story needed a little more work. Far and away that is the fundamental problem with virtually every student film. You can make it look nice, but look for an original story that if fully thought through.

I just graduated from film school, BTW, and now I wait tables -- in case you were curious about my credentials.
