My race issues proffessor told me that and I disagreed with him. I wrote a paper to disprove this and he gave me a C which I feel was an unfair grade. I am appealing it with the Dean of students. This course was only an elective. If anybody thinks they might agree with me I will send you the proffessors name, the school, and my thesis. One day I told him he was crazy because he said that it is10X as hard to make it as a black person in this country. I told him to prove it and he couldn't. I wish I took the sexism course instead... I can't believe this jerk is ruining my GPA

Being white does not automatically make you racist, and being male does not automatically make you sexist. What kind of a teacher is this? He sounds like he might have some issues. I would like to see your paper and his remarks. This really isn't about your GPA, is it? It's more about discrimination, and whether he graded your paper on your work, or if he graded it with the view that anyone that disagreed with him automatically would get a lower grade. Did you back up your views? Did you do some research that shows that white males are uneligable for many of the grants and scholorships available now? If you are going to challenge this, make sure you have something to stand on.

from a black man's point of view. You are born with three strikes against you. You are considered a criminal even if you are not, The education we receive is far more inferior than that of a third world country, and we as a people have complete morons representing the race. White society has led to the instability of blacks. They killed our leader, replaced them with third rate moron of their choosing. Allowed drugs to plague our society and is killing off blacks at alarming rates. White society has allowed AIDS to ravage not only the black community but the African Continent. Answer this question for me. How is it that a disease that was suppose to have been started in Africa reach across the Atlantic ocean and create an epidemic in black communities in America. The two communities have nothing in common. Can you say Tuskegee Study part 2. Racism in this country is now covert rather than overt because like all cancers it evolves. White Americans were embarassed in the eyes ofthe world in the 60's with overt racism that was going on lynchings, beatings by the police while the government stood by and watched. Now you have the same things but the government controls the media and dictate what get seen, so now their dirty laundry isn't aired around the world.

I don't think that it makes you racist/sexist but somewhat very ignorant and in over your head as to what the race issues class is about. I think the point was to get another point of view, you're not in a debate class. Your job as a student is to prepare a balanced impersonal thesis for this dude, learn or don't learn, get a good grade, gain a degree, get a job and continue with the life you want.

If the class was about "what little I know about race issues", I think the professor would sit, listen to you for 2 mins, give you an A and send you on your merry way. Yeah I know it's an elective but it's a class all the same. I think you would still get a crappy grade in sex issue if you came in with the "you're CRAZZZZY!" and know it all attitude. Human Relations tip: (Do not tell any authority figure/professor regardless of race/sex/sanity they're full of **** in front of other students/peers. I'm surprised you're still in the class and passing. You don't have to kiss *** but at least give them respect).

Also I wished the both of you talked to each other in a more civilized manner because I'm getting the feeling of two educated male adults behaving like kids and not trying to get each other. Note: In his position, he doesn't have to get you...only teach you) Anyway, If your paper was balanced(not based on all that you know), historic, well written, statistically sound and fact based then I think you should push this issue with the dean since it's too late to repair the disrespect you have for each other. Too bad you will never know why you really got that C.

I totally agree, I had the same problem in College, well not exactly the same, but my Ethnic Studies professor said the same thing. She even showed us a video where all these people of different races went to a camp together to discuss racial issues and the white guy had the hardest time saying he wasnt a racist, they just wouldn't believe him, he even tried giving examples but nothing he could say worked. I have never been made to feel more guilty about being white than when in that class. It was as if every day I left with hundreds of years of guilt on my shoulders. I would appeal it too, its not our fault the world is the way it is. Who ever changed history after it was already done? And who in college ever changed a society of 300 million?

Whether I agree with your or not, you should appeal that, and don't accept a C, if you really put a lot into it.
It is a statistical likelihood that a college professor has an excessive opinion of his own intelligence, or maybe that is the type of people that are drawn to that career. I've seen many.

I will tell you this. I'm a white male in America, and I'm not racist. I eat racists for breakfast; I put them on my cereal.

If you have a professor making statements like "it's 10x harder to make it based on a certain ethnic race," and has no studies or figures to back up the statement, then you are right to appeal - he is using the captive audience he has in his students as a sounding board for his own political and social views, it sounds like. Also, a paper should be based on skills, research, etc. NOT on disagreement with the writer's choice of topic or view of it... good luck, I'm on your side on this one!

I 'm a liberal, and I agree with you. Sometimes we veer so far to the left or right that we fall off the mountain. When I lived in the SF bay area, I was automatically suspect and glared at in some parts of town due to my white skin. People are all individuals and your prof. should be too well educated ( ha ha) to generalize. No one can tell about another's background and opinions by simply looking at them. The root of the word education is "educare" , meaning to lead forth. Your prof. is trying to lead you down his own path, thus defeating the stated purpose of his calling. And you may quote me to your Dean.

well i also disagree with him. but you have to admit: it actually CAN BE MUCH harder to make it as a black person in this country. if your the son of a rapstar, it's not hard because your father has some million dollars and introduces you in the buizz. but for the average black person it's harder to make it than for the average white person - just cauz the average white is richer than the average black!
