Click on the pics, and you'll see why the humming bird hawk-moth is often confused for an actual bird.

We also get them in our garden (south coast). Marvellous to watch them feeding on nectar!

I thought I saw a humming bird last week & I'm in Devon. It was about 2 inches long (approx) & was going into each flower head. I've been told it was a hummingbird hawk moth, but I'm not convinced!

No, but you may see Hummingbird Hawkmoths, which visit flowers in a similar way + confused with them by the uninitiated. I sometimes see them in my London garden.
