how d i turn off touchpad on laptop and connect wired mouse?

The touchpad icon is sometimes displayed in the tray area of the desktop, you can disable it from there or in control panel.
You can connect a usb mouse without disabling the pad though.

go to device manager and from there in Human device interface disable touchad driver.
to connect mouse, simply connect any usb mouse to laptop and it will automatically take the driver.
