make sure of your not in the room lights are off..if its cool outside cut the ac off and open windows..you can also run ceiling fans to help circulate the air. Me, I leave my windows open at night and run a fan, if its gonna be hot the next day i shut the windows in the am b4 work and turn ac on so it wont have to run as hard to keep it cool. dont need bright lights, use low lamps instead if watching tv. if reading may need a little brighter so you dont hurt your eyes.

Here's what I did:

- replaced ALL my incandescent lights with flourescent. 11W instead of 60Ws is a big improvement. In reading lamps I'd get the 20something W "full spectrum" compact flourescent.

- get in better habits of turning things off

- dont run AC unless absolutely necessary

- don't leave fridge door open while you browse

-don't leave outdoor lights on all night. Or replace the few you do leave on with flourescents or other more efficient kinds.
