Henry the VII was actually the first Tudor king. He usurped the monarchy from Richard III, the last of the Plantagenet kings. He is believed to have Richard III murdered in the Tower. His son, Henry VIII inherited his crown, and then Henry VIII's surviving children all had their shot: Edward VI, Mary I, and finally Elizabeth I. She died without any children, and so her cousin (a couple of times removed) James of Scotland became James I of England, thereby ending the Tudor dynasty and beginning the Stuart dynasty.

In the 16th Century (actually until 1603-the death of queen Elizabeth the First, who, as it seems, was more intellectual then Elizabeth the 2nd).
