A professor sent me their lecture notes but something has gone wrong. The link in the email has the file listed as a .ppt file but my computer will only save it as a .cgi file. I am not sure what to do and am considering panicking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A .cgi file is a server script that produces the content you receive. So what you have saved is not the actual .cgi file but its output. If that output ran as a Powerpoint file, you may be able to use it just by renaming it to a .ppt.

Right click on the cgi file, click properties, a dialog box opens, click the change button and opt for open with notepad. Hope this works.
