Put cat urine around the outside. It will scare away the shrew but dissipate fairly quickly as an odor.

Are you sure it's not mice? Shrews and moles prefer to live outside in the dirt and in their tunnels.

They like marshmellows...
put a trail of marshmellows leading either outside of your garage or into a cage...then call the spca.
