slavery started very early in american history. Ever since the first explorers came to the new world, there were slaves here. Most came over in a thing called the triangle trade where weapons from Europe went to Africa who sent slaves to the Americas, who sent sugar back to Europe. Some accounts even tell of such explorers such as Columbus and Cortez having slaves, but no one can really confirm that. When the American government was set up, slavery was a huge part of the economic system. Some even believe that without slavery, the country may not have survived in its first years. Slavery was especially big in the south, where without slaves, work would have been virtually impossible. Don't get me wrong, slavery was a terrible thing, but without it, the south would have been even farther behind the north than they were. Slavery was finally abolished after the north won the civli war.

American Slavery was over many years ago, now its slavery unto ones self. you have a right to choose to be a slavery of your own choice and fate. Your question is very vague but if i assume you mean the slavery of the past then it is still alive in those who choos eto live in the past.....

Slavery was free labor. The South needed the slave labor to produce the most amount of cotton they could. Slaves were brought over, bought and sold like property, not people. Nutshell version.

Well this question is not very clear. But if you mean why did they have slavery, it is because they cheap to buy.
