I had been letting my daughter "chat" on chatfamily.com, but there was somebody flirting with her last night claiming to be 11! Now, how many 11 year old boys think a girl is "hot" because she owns horses?!Please don't send crude answers, I would like for her to be able to go online without all this bad stuff. Not myspace.com either....my daughter is truly offended by what the guy said. She is only interested in horses and her studies to become a vet.....she just wanted to meet other enthusiast.

Thanks Shortie-X, I will let her know about your email.
As far as her free time, she is a 4.0 student that is in Beta, Track, 4-H, Band, and she has been nominated to the Student Ambassador program. She finishes her homework an hour after she gets home. We live in a rural area that her closest friend lives 5 miles away and doesn't have a computer.

I do monitor what she is doing on the computer, thanks, that is how I knew what the creep said.

We were just looking for some friends that she could chat about horses with in between cleaning, feeding and exercising horses, homework, going to meetings and track meets. We don't watch alot of tv, nor have video games and I wanted something positive for her.

I would also like you to know that I am doing my job.Why would I even inquire if there was such a safe place to go if I was irresponsible?

She is NOT going anywhere with anybody. and she doesn't give out personal info....

You really shouldn't let her go into chatrooms. Unless you are going to sit there with her and watch everything she types, then she shouldn't be on there. There are a lot of sickos. As for meeting other horse enthusiasts, maybe look for clubs in the area, or if she goes somewhere for lessons, she could hang out with the other kids.

good luck : )

NONE!!!!

Why are you even considering letting her do this? If she has the free time for chat rooms, shouldn't she be using that time to do something else like homework or play with her REAL LIFE friends, not some bozos on the internet?

C'mon Mom, do your job!

try to find chat rooms that are solely based on that. But really she shouldn't be going into chat rooms. I'm 18 and i don't go into chat rooms because they make me nervous

Tell her to get an MSN. Then she can only add people she knows and talks to.
