You get a job offer in Malaysia? Wow.. You're gonna love it.

A 1 BR apartment in Kuala Lumpur will prolly cost you around RM1500-2000 (450USD).

Home cooked meals (3 times a day) will cost you like, RM15 a day maximum (4.5USD)

Restaurants (good ones) will cost you around RM20 or more for a complete meal. But listen, you wanna go to those cheap open air restaurants because that's where u get the best food. You also wanna try the night markets which are almost everywhere, where u'll get to see all types of everyday Malaysian food that are cheap, rich and delicious.

Broadband internet costs you RM88 (23USD) and taxi fare costs u RM2 for the first 2 kilometres and 10 Malaysian cent for every additional hundred meters.

Electricity is cheap, you won't feel like paying anything. So is water. Both combined, you'll most likely have to pay RM100 per month (34USD)

And phone bills might be a little more expensive. You might wanna consider RM400 (110 USD) per month if you constantly call home from there, or more.

So basically, you need like RM3500 (1000USD) to be able to live decently. A lot of Malaysians earn much lower than that. If you earn more than that, u might wanna consider travelling around the country, clubbing and having all the fun cuz Kuala Lumpur never sleeps.

Hope this helps. Any other info, please PM me.

Well, its really depends on where the job is in KL. To rent in the city itself might cost you a lot but there are always some other options to choose.

(1) You can get yourself a cheaper apartments in some other places like Wangsa Maju, Cheras, Serdang etc. I've got my condo for RM450 (5 b/rooms in Serdang = USD119) and im sharing it with a fren. In the city itself the lowest rental would probably be RM900, if you are lucky, and that can be an unfurnished apartment.

(2) Food. Well..it really depends on what you want to have. In my opinion, once you get yourself adjusting well to malaysian food, it can cost you less as you can find lotsa foodstalls within the city. Home cooked food is advisable and it is easy to find fresh ingredients.

(3) Avoid taxi, try some other public transportations which is less expensive like the buses, commuters, lrts, erl etc.

(4) Eletricity and water bills are reasonable.

Well, dear..the best advice i can think of is to be Smart and Mixed with the local for some real advice.

If you decided to take the offer, welcome and hope you enjoy being in KL. Its a nice city. Good Luck

First it depends on which part of Malaysia you are in. I will recommend that you get a studio in Damansara, a cheaper place, I will recommend Wangsa Maju. It will definitely cost less than RM1000, depending on the exact location. Make a good bargain as the place is now over filled with condos, apartments, etc. You can get breakfast less then RM2, lunch roughly RM5, dinner also roughly around RM5. That also includes a drink and a piece of fruit. Restaurants will be quite costly. Phone bills depends on where you are calling. The rest are reasonable priced.
