I think that you ARE right. Look at Chrysler. They're already going overseas. Daimler Chrysler, Mercedes Benz, same.

Dodge has already gone away from their very good cargo van and started selling this "Sprinter" van. It's the tall one that you are now seeing on the roads. It's too tall and has a high center of gravity, it will cause it to turn over easilly. It's made like the vans in the UK that are slim and tall, due to narrow streets. Not made for speed. And to top things off, they are now powered by a Mercedes engine instead of the tried and true 360 or 318 cu. in. engines that Dodge is known for. I think it sucks.

Yep, bye bye American made.

Buick - It is the only vehicles GM gets right. Yes I agree they need big changes. GM and Ford need to understand more what is happening in this country. They overall continue to make junk and the Japanese are coming in with a vengeance. If they would stop going with the fads of the day, i.e. SUVs, and look to the future, then they would stop losing their share of the U.S. market and also be able to go more global.

They are certainly losing their share of the market to imports. I think toyota is already the top seller in the U.S. All 3 U.S. car makers need to re-think their financial situation and tighten up quality if they are going to survive.

Just my opinion, but I think producing lincoln, mercury, buick, plymouth, dodge, and pontiac is a waste of money. For the most part they are mechanically identical to other models produced by the same company.

Yes, foreign imports are so much more fuel efficient and have fewer mechanical problems, they have just about replaced the big 3 American auto makers.
