I recommend to you a very good book that will help you understand where corruption comes from in India: Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell. It is not a text book, but an economics book that will really open your eyes. In the book, he talks extensively about India, the corruption there, and what can be done. You will never regret reading this book.
Good luck.

Indians are depressed people with no self pride or pride for the nation. First education should include Indian history from 6000 years till I century, and not the gulami period only. Child must know what we gave to the world. They should be instilled self pride and pride for the nation. when the new generatioin will start loving the nation and will want it to be the best in the world " The Golden Bird" what it was in the era of Chandra Gupt MAurya, Samundra Gupt, then only corruption will go.

Fear is the only way to eliminate corruption. We have to launch a 24x7 TV network called "24X7 INSAAF TV" and should bring all honest leaders including President Kalam as board of directors. This is purely a voluntary service for the directors without any salary, to eliminate any chance for corruption.Through this network we will conduct NON STOP workshops, case studies, social dramas, personal experiences and interviews to educate the Indian public about our constitution, law and order and the complete administrative mechanism. We will deploy 100's of youth squads at each and every ministry and government deapartment nationwide, who are well trained to act as reporters and watchdogs to monitor their activities.

Eventually we have to digitise all the bank accounts, moveable, immoveable assets and source of income which is accessible for any authority and monitor. We can generate jobs for milions of youths. In fact, other TV chanels will try to compete and definitely will become a strong force against corruption.

I wish I could tell you how, but you see, when I was in college, i had that hope, for my country to get better when we put better leaders in the government. but after 30 years of seeing how history just repeats itself everytime a new leader gets elected to the office, I guess it's inevitable. I come from a country where corruption is widespread. From the traffic policemen's aides up to the very high positions in the government. It's just different batches of leaders doing the same things in their own times.

Educating people on various laws in the country and guiding them in their problems when faced with corrupted officials by showing them a step by step "contact officials" to approach till they get justice. This can be done through various channels such as media, campaigns, seminars etc. It is sad to know that most common man is afraid to take the matter further when faced with corrupted officials since I think they feel that it is a waste of time..you just keep going from one corrupt official to another with no results ...they desprately need support and guidance of groups (fighting against corruption) to stand behind them in such cases to show them how to bring the officials to book. Since every common man in India is directly or indirectly effected in some way by corrupted officials, we should all get together and stand up against these evil forces. Cause these evil forces are tearing apart the fabric of India and making it extremely difficult for the common man to live a peaceful and dignified life. Basically they are cowards hiding behind their power and money mostly street smart but not very educated. If we are strong in our convictions and stand up against all corrupted officials disgracing them in public and making them answerable for their action, I believe corruption will eventually stop in due course. There are so many loop-holes in our laws that corruptions flourishes in India....we need to amend our laws to airtight laws for severe punishment towards corruption. Like Singapore laws for rape, robbery, drugs, etc., are so strict that no one dares violate them. If we honest Indians stand together to see that such severe laws against corruption are enforced I am sure we will reach our goal sooner.

By refusing to bribe. We all have corrupted the system by bribing for our own gain at times. So the corrupts now demands bribes for evrything -- irrespective whether you are asking for favour or not. If you can sit out without paying, just do that. Corrupt will have to bulge.
