If that is the quality of people you work with, you need to protect yourself and be sure that you are exemplary in all things. Be polite, and cordial, but distant. Excell at everything you do, strive for excellence and take pride in even the smallest tasks. Socialize only outside of work with people you don't see on a daily basis.
Might even try finding a new job where people are not so cutthroat.

I had a simialer situation a few months ago myself. If you really value you your job its worth a try.
I didn't become anti-social I just began to pay attention to EVERYTHING I did at work. From what I said, how I responded to anything said to me as well as BODY LANGUAGE. I am the only male who works in my office of 7 employees. 6 of which is female. By doing my job, never discussing personal problems, in or out of the office, there was no ammunition that could be used against me. Most importantly, NEVER cross the the line physically. Never touch, hug or imply anything beyond a friendly greeting or compliment.
Once the ladies in the office saw a consistent pattern of mutual respect and friendliness as well as a pattern of solid work, they realized I wasn't a shmoe out to degrade them or get in thier pants.
Being the only guy in the office, now you would have thought I invented fire or the telephone. I actually have a pleasant day at work.

sometimes the work place can be the hardest place to be social, there sometimes is a lot of jealousy and even though I am a female I have found it even more so with females. I try to be nice and smile and take part to a point but I would keep personal things out of the work place. It is a good rule of thumb to simply do your work and be polite and nice and for the most part be yourself but leave personal life where it belongs.

Whatever you do, those women will find ways to get at you. so just remain a low profile, keep your work well, and find way to tell your boss how good you're doing workwise. Reach your job targets, and cover your six.
And, I agree that you should update your resumee.

Wow, it sounds like you work with some terrible women. I'd keep the conversation very generic. I work with back stabbers too and I keep things very simple. They still find things to talk about though.

Remain professional but not chummy -- don't be telling your personal business to people at work. they're your coworkers not your friends. Keep your work life and your social life separate.
