I am so sorry that you are in this difficult situation.

Nestle Lactogen formula is used for orphans in India with good success. It is important to mix formula powder in the exact ratio stated on the tin, do not be tempted to add extra water to make it last longer, it would cause malnutrition and an imbalance of the salts in the baby's body. Mix powder with boiled, cooled water and boil the bottle and nipple too, and throw out any milk left in the bottle after one hour if baby hasn't drank it all, newborns can get sick easily from germs. You can also give mashed boiled egg yolk (never egg whites) in her formula after a few weeks if doing well on just formula, the fats in yolks are very good for brain and eye health like breasmilk provides. You may be able to find a commercial formula with these fats.
Give rice porridge as early as 4 months, mashed vegetables like boiled yams, peas, carrots and the like from 5 or 6 months old. When baby takes these foods well, mince the food that the rest of the family is eating (before adding spices) and give this to the child starting at about 8 or 9 months old.
Although homemade formula is not ideal, if you do not have access to commercial formula at first, here are some recipes.
This one is very basic and should be used with vitamins
1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
18 oz. boiled, cooled water
2 Tablespoons corn syrup, brown rice syrup or sugar
mix well and keep chilled. Throw out any left after 24 hours
Here is another more balanced recipe using fresh milk:
2 cups whole cow's or goat's milk
4 tablespoons lactose or 2 tablespoons table sugar if you have to
2 tablespoons cream
1 teaspoon cod liver oil
2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons coconut oil
1 7/8 cups filtered water
This be good for 2 days if keeped well chilled.
The baby should be given baby vitamins or at least extra iron in addition to either of these formulas. Infant formula is usually recomended until baby is 1 year old. However formula is costly, and if you don't have it donated and if it is a finacial burden in your area, you should know that most babies can be safetly transitioned to whole milk after their 8th month. I wish I could do more to help.

The baby will need to use formula for the 1st year of life or at least until 11 months old. The baby doesn't need any water until 4 to 6 months of age. If you believe the baby needs water only give a little (1 to 2 ounces). You may begin infant cereals at about 4 to 5 months of age. Once the baby turns 5 to 6 months of age you may begin juice and vegetables/fruits. You should always begin with vegetables because the fruits are sweeter and once the baby tastes the fruits he/she may reject the vegetables. One new item at a time(one week) so if there is an allergic reaction it may be pinpointed. Baby may begin meats at 7 to 8 months of age. Remember to give juice from a sippy cup, a baby that holds a bottle can hold a cup. Most importantly, stop the bottle by 1 year of age.

Start giving the baby milk from a can see if the baby likes the milk if not call the adoption angenies in india an ask them what types of food does the country eats than find the nearest india store in the state you stay go there buy foods which you would think the baby would like.

Well I shipped about 300 ounces of breastmilk to a baby accross the country whose mother died. I packed it in dry ice and in a cooler and overnighted it. I don't have enough milk to donate this time but that is always an option, there's usually someone out there who is willing to donate milk.

Here are some deals and/or ways to get a deal for your new born baby.
I invite anybody who has some good deals to post then as follow-ups to this thread.
1. Crib, best value I got was from an [rfdlink=/forums/autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=78]ebay[/rfdlink] seller enzo70helio who sells new and "refurbished"
cribs at great prices. I said "refurbished" because some of them are former display cribs with very small
scratches or mismatched colors.
LINK (http://search.ebay.ca/_W0QQsassZenzo70helio)
3. Stroller , you can go for the american brands like Graco and such but personally I didn't like them
and they're HUGE so I decided to spend a little more and get a European Peg Perego A3 wich is one of
the most versatile strollers ever made for $388+tax. Turns from a Pram to a stroller and is exceptionally well built with quality
materials. You can do slightly better on [rfdlink=/forums/autolink/redirectpage.php?linkid=78]Ebay[/rfdlink] but only buying from US that means losing warranty and paying tax and duty cause is a
BIG box with a price tag of at least $250 USD
Best price for that one was www.minicircuit.ca $388+tax

2. ToysRus baby catalog coupons. Register in the birth registry with them and receive a $5 coupon ,
a small gift for soon to be mother and child and a catalog full of coupons usable only in their store but
found them a pretty good value especially that ,the coupon specifys, it applys BEFORE the tax :)
4. High chair , this might expire soon so hurry, ToysRus use the $10 of coupon found in the catalog
to ourchase the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders High chair wich is on sale right now
for $119.99 (reg price $149.99) -$10 final price $127 tax in
LINK (http://www.toysrus.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&productId=47424)
5 Bouncer same like above will knock down $5 from initial price
6 Crib mobile , same as above $5 off BEFORE tax.
7.Thermometer , Braun @ CWO.ca for 29.99 bundled with a DrSeuss DVD already posted on RFD.
