Now Manchester United's main rival is Chealsea financially they compete with Chealsea on the pitch they have been competing for the title. Their real old rivals used to be Arsenal that was around the late 90,s entering 2000 and Liverpool through history that is the 1970's and 80's through Liverpools success which United seem capable of overtaking. Mancity are rivals because they are in the same City.To date the club United want to overtake is Chealsea so their mainrival is Chealsea the others follow after.

It used to be Leeds United, but since they went into relegation, it's an open position.
Probably Liverpool would be the next best as they are one of the closest geographically.
Also the Man U/ Man City Derby every year draws a lot of ire and probably crime for the local pubs...LOL
