I know,it is a dumb question... but I am curious, because so many ppl are going on and on about it here in yahoo. answers. We don't have one here in Bristol,va,or bristol, Tn, but we have something close, Java J's. So,I notice we don't have one, but Seattle ( I lived there for awhile) has alot of coffee places. BTW,I looooove Starbucks!.

Because here in texas some of the employees are racist against their customers. They don't have to flat out call the customer a name. It's called subtle racism where they treat one customer based on race or looks better than the other customer. I have had subtle racism directed towards me not only from white employees but black ones too.

If a customer like me is waiting in line and the starbucks employee says "thank you Sir, have a nice day Sir!" to the white guy in front of me, and when I am being served they say absolutely nothing to me then I am going to believe that they favor other customers because of looks and race.

I have been to many starbucks in houston texas and out of 12 different Starbucks I have been to, I have only been told "thank you" ONE TIME in FOUR YEARS. I have told the barista "thank you very much" for the drink but they never say thank you to me.

I dress professionally and I smile a lot, so I can only conclude that the white customers get treated better in GENERAL because the baristas think that white people will tip. I tip also and very generously, but why would I tip a barista if they do not even greet me or acknowledge me?
