Unless something terrible happens, science is the only option. New methods of growing food, cleaning and distributing water, heating, transportation, these are all things we need science to solve. Science, like religion has both life and death in it. They are tools, we are the carpenters.

You can not be shown the right path, you must choose it. Start by learning to think for yourself because god is not going to point you in the right direction. If you believe in god you know he'll let you take the wrong path just as surely as the right.

Don't let others do you're thinking for you. Just because someone tells you something does not make it so.

Science can be good and it can be bad, it's a matter of how you see it. One example is the reason how i'm able to read and correspond to your question in mere seconds even though you might be at the other end of the world!
Science, believe it or not started when man began to put words together (btw, science is a word as well as god - just how we see it). As we, Homo Sapiens started becoming more and more intelligent, we started analysing and researching about our environment - and the resources we could use to create and improve life around us.
However, to go Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on your question, as homo sapiens became more intelligent, "human nature" took over, the greatest factor being greed and self-obsession, only wanting the best for themselves and thinking little about others, therefore creating all sorts of mechanisms to deal with others - from simple things like knives, to complex things like nuclear bombs.
These are a few examples to your question, but it's up to you to see what's good and bad about science~ peace man!

Science is the FUTURE, superstition is the PAST. Of course there is no rule that the past and future are sequential, many instances of advanced civilizations returning to a more superstitious and primitive past.
Of course how would the superstitious survive without all the "magic" that props up their existance today?

Science is amoral, meaning neither good nor bad. You can only make moral judgments of the USE to which it is put:

The ability to make fire is good. It enables us to survive in the northern latitudes.

The ability to make fire is bad. it enables us to burn down our homes and forests.

If you are truly interested in the right path in this regard, read the Book of Proverbs, wherein the Children of Israel are instructed to be scientists.

If you live in a cave, then science wouldn't be much use to you, but since I'm sure you don't live in a cave, science is everwhere
and if you don't embrace it with gusto, you should go live in a cave. Maybe then you would see the need for it.
