No, I am an optimist who always thinks things can get worse; and, generally they do.

I recall hearing an interview on NPR with a guy from former Eastern Germany. The reporter noticed a sign hanging on the wall behind the guy's desk. It read something like this:

"Amidst the chaos, a voice called out, 'Smile, for things could be worse.' I smiled, and things got worse."
