My mom did a system recovery on the computer so I backed up the Mozilla Firefox shortcut beforehand onto a CD. It had my bookmarks on there (loads of them). When I checked to see if the programme would work from the CD, it did, and all my bookmarks were there.

But now, after I've had to download Firefox again, when I open the shortcut that's on my CD nothing's there - no bookmarks or information that I've saved.

So have my bookmarks just gone and I can never get them back again? Some of them I really need!
WAS there anyway to save my bookmarks??

Yeah, I used a CD-R disc.
I'm trying to find the profile and bookmark folders now. So confusing. @_@

Your bookmarks are kept in a hidden folder, so you will have to click on MyComputer>Folders>>Tools>Folder Options>View...then select the option that allows you to see hidden folders.

Your bookmarks folder is descibed here:

I am quite sure you'll be fixed up and back working in a jiffy. This will also answer your last question in some detail.

If you backed them up to a CD-R, it's bizarre, since CD-R's are write once, read many.

If you used a CD-RW, then it's possible something wrote to the CD-RW and destroyed your favorites.

For the future, you can get an extension to Firefox that will let you easily access del.ico.us, where you can periodically backup the favorites (and restore them if needed).
