Patron is a 'niche' tequillia, it's not mass produced to the extent of say "Quervo 1800". Therefore it's value is higher plust it's relatively new to the market so it's trying to separate itself from the pack. It's more of a sipping alcohol...if you try to make it in a margarita it just won't do the drink justice.

Patron is heavily filtered thereby creating a very smooth tequila. It is considered 'trendy.' Although, I find it has very little taste. I prefer Jose Cuervo whether it is a shooter or in a margarita. At least the flavor of the drink comes through.
