WELL DONE YOU 10 MONTHS OF BREASTFEEDING HAS GIVEN YOUR SON A GREAT START!!!!! MY 12 MONTH OLD FINISHED FEEDING 3 WEEKS AGO AND I CAN ONLY GET A LITTLE BIT OF MILK IF I REALLY TRY!!! THE INITIAL DRY UP TOOK ABOUT 5-7 DAYS. MY SON NOW 5YRS ALSO FED UNTIL 13MONTHS AND THE TIME FRAME WAS ABOUT THE SAME. IF YOU DO GET UNCOMFORTABLE SEEK ADVISE FROM GP OR COMMUNITY MIDWIVES BUT IF YOU CAN ONLY GET MILK WHEN YOU TRY THEN JUST TRY NOT TO STIMMULATE THE BREASTS FOR A FEW DAYS.

I breast fed my son for 17 months, as it is what saved his little life. It took years for my breast milk to finally give it up. Occasionally they would fire up again and try to give it a go. Everyones physical make up is different. More than likely some doctor named the amount of time after himself, and you will get an exact number in a book. When I had contractions for weeks before my babys birth, I heard them called "Braxton/Hicks contractions. I said, I don't think so, those are my contractions, and no man is going to name my contractions after himself.
So, when your milk comletely dries up, will be according to your own biological clock. Remember, when your baby was near, your body automatically got ready to feed the boy. Now, he is still near, and your body has to slowly give it up. Good for you for nursing him. Makes strong jaws etc.

Probably indefinitely. I quit pumping 4 months ago and I still have milk. It just won't go away. Some days are worse than others with occasional leaks, but it is only a few spots.

I quit nurseing about year and a few months ago. I still have a little milk in my breast. Once you make milk your body always can make it. You may still feel let down years from now. Its very normal.

It takes a few months. I stopped nursing in June and I can still get a little out of one side.
