Invented electricity? That would be God.

Greeks, Sassanids and Parthians(oh my) used batteries 2000 years ago. The Ark of the Covenant had some electrical qualities. Benjamin Franklin did some work with electricity, similar to that in Europe.

The European work with batteries and capacitors was significant before Edison.

Edison popularized electrical transmission with the assistance of J.P.Morgan's money. Nicolai Tesla was far more knowledgeable than Edison, a contemporary, but favored direct current over alternating current.

Technically, no one invented electricity. Thunderstorms, static electricity, and bio-electricity have existed since the Earth was born.

Benjamin Franklin concluded that the large bolts of light in the sky were indeed electric discharges. Thomas Edison discovered better ways to harness it.

Electricity is 100% organic, so to speak!

What guy with the kite and the key?
Nobody invented electricity. You could say Eddison discovered it, or you could say cavemen first discovered it when they saw electrical discharge from a cloud in a thunderstorm (some extremely clever caveman might've worked it out). I mean, they did produce fire from rubbing sticks together.

Are you thinking of Benjamin Franklin who flew a kite in a rain storm.
No one invented electricity. They just discovered it and harnessed it. Later people found ways to produce it.
