It was his secretary and Mrs. Roosevelt never forgave him the fact that the mistress was by his side when he died.

But, you know, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt lived apart the latter part of their marriage. This was a long time.They just had different interests: he was President and she had many social reforms to perform.

FDR did have a mistress; her name was Lucy Mercer and I believe she was his secretary. They were involved until Eleanor Roosevelt found out and threatened to serve him with divorce papers if he didn't stop the affair. For a president to be divorced in office was bad PR, so FDR left his mistress and stayed with his wife.

FDR did have a mistress. They dated for years, and his wife knew about it.

His mistress was with him, when he died.
