The switch is called a 'dead-man switch' meaning when it is released the circuitry is shut off. Find the wires that lead to the switch near the side stand. Duct tape it. It's now by passed. But Why???

The side stand cutout switch is operated when the side stand activates the switch in the down position the switch is "open" and interupts the supply to the ignition switch. When the stand is up it presses on a contact and the swiitch is then "closed" this makes the circuit live and the bike will start.

If it is a simple push switch simply tape the plunger in the up position The switch then assumes the side stand is up.

or use a multimeter to check continuity of the wires coming out of the switch with the stand up and then with it down. Once you know which 2 wires are used join them together. and this will make the circuit whether the stand is up or down.

I'm going to suggest you don't do that. I had a Nighthawk 450 with no side stand cut off switch, and there were a few times when I took off with the stand still down. Scary when I leaned a bit and that thing hit the ground, I'm telling you! Scary trying to lean the other way, and kick the stand up, while the cycle was in motion 35 mph!

why bypass it get a multie meter and check the wireing and spring andcheck there is no crud in it and if need be bite the bullet and get what part it needs fit it yourself .The bike needs it was fitted with so put it back you dice with life if you dont what happens if you go round the corner the stand comes down you can get bined .

Pull the two wires out of the switch. Try to start the bike. If it starts, OK, if not, twist the two wires from switch together, then try again.

There are 2 wires that go into the switch. Cut them, unscrew the swithc, bin it and solder the wires together. Just beware you don't ride off with the stand down ;-)

My bloke had to do as redhand suggests, tape the plunger in the up position (he had a gixer 1100). Alternitavely by a new spring for the side stand if that's the problem.
