stopppp immediately dont listen to them!!! OMG you people here simply to get 2 pts! grrrrrrrrrrrr
OK first off dont do ANYTHING except grab your phone book and call a local electrician like right NOW!!! DONT WAIT! I have not only seen this before but if i am right, lt is a major fire hazrd! From many yrs of exp. YOU need a licensed person to not only check this out, but pull your meter socket off the house first to check if what i think is correct. While Ive done this myself with the power on, it simply made me freeze and almost drop the panel cover i was taking off ....to check this...
what i am referring to is a possible loose main line at the lug or both caused by overheating the darn aluminum wires in many services feeding the main lugs. When these are not tightened properly(OR every so often as is reccomended and who does that>?) they heat, which expands the wire, then cool, and so on,till they get too loose, which then makes them over heat even more, to the point some wires completely end up melting either the lug, or wire or parts of both! When this happens you lose the conductivity and amperage rating of the original wire. thus a 100 amp wire may only hold 30-50 amps or less, and since your using the same amperage the wire melts some more, maybe both....Ive actually opening panels only to see a GLOWING HOT RED ball of fire in the panel! From the lugs having had melted and now overheating...and a 100 amp wire was melted to the size of a 20 amp wire or less.....and of course the voltage dropped causing all your devices to not run properly. Of course this also could be happening in your meter socket, or simply have a bad meter or connection at any of these points.. it also could be you buse bars on you panel also being damaged..
there are so many other situations to check but call someone now! It is possible its your light company but think about it, are all your neighbors having the same problem? I think not!

if the home is older, you may need a new "switch box" on the outside----over time, the aluminum threads that connect there might "vibrate" (they vibrate minutely every time power goes on or off) out of position, and the connections might be so loose by now stuff is switching on or off at random.
Also, if the house is older it might be "overloaded" by the electrical appliances in use. When older homes (50 years) were built, people did not have, and were not simultaneously running televisions, computers, A/C systems, etc.
Electric repair guy should know all this---but fixing it all won't be cheap.

You need to hire an electrician and hire him now before your house burns to the ground. I am not kidding or joking with you, you have a very serious issue in your electrical panel that needs to be corrected NOW. Don't fool around with the computer looking for an answer, get in the phone book and get an electrician to your house NOW.

some of your electrical wires are already grounded!!! call the electricians and ask them to change ALL wirings and put a larger size of wire on the appliances with motors and heating devices, anyway, if they are really a good electricians, they''ll know what to do.i'm also an electrician but if you cannot find a good one be prepared for a firefighter and your housing insurance.

This sounds like a broken ground wire - outside your house. Yes it can damage your appliances and worst. Get the power company there right away.

Did the electrician not have an answer to the problem? The best answer would be if one side of the breaker is tripped. Did the electrician check the breaker box?
