It's a tie, actually:
1. When I was in Iraq, we'd get mortared or attacked by rockets 3-5 times a day. Once, we had to clear out of our tents because one had landed in blast radius, but didn't explode. Also saw rockets landing within 100m of me ac ouple other times. That was scary sh!t.
2. I had to get a HIV test. 3 days later, the doc's assistant called me & said he wanted to talk about my lab results. There was no appointment available for 2 weeks, though. I asked what it was about, and he didn't say. So, for 2 weeks, I assumed I had HIV. It turns out that wasn't the case. I just had a high white blood cell count, which isn't that great, but better than having HIV.

Funny enough, although I broke my neck in an accident. That wasn't my biggest scare. When I was in the Royal Navy during the Falklands Conflict. We were at Action Stations as a Super Entendard which carried Exocet missiles was picked up on our radar. The range of an Exocet missile is about 32 miles and takes about 10 seconds from firing to impact. We listened over the Tanoy system as the reports came in about where the Entendard was until it reached the 32 mile zone. Suddenly over the Tanoy system came the words we didn't want to hear, "Brace, Brace, Brace!" You hit the floor flat, put your hands over your head and wait. My heart was thumping and I started counting the seconds, 1 1,000. 2 1000. 3 1000. The time seemed to stretch as I counted up. When I reached the 10 1000. I was holding my breath waiting for a massive explosion and the compartment to be turned into either a fireball or being engulfed by water. I could already imagine being in an upside down ship with a few inches of air left to breathe knowing that they would be my last. Luckily the missile hadn't locked on and had splashed into the sea. Later on my ship was hit by an Exocet missile. It happened so suddenly there wasn't any time to be scared.
(You can see picture's in the second album on my Yahoo website if you are interested). But I would say if you are in a life or death situation, it's whether or not you have the time to think about it that is the scariest.

Ok in 2003 when i was 12, my friend died in a car accident, ans then in 2004 I came across some notes he has written up for a book we wanted to write, I finished it and I am trying to get it published. Anyhow, a few weeks ago one of the notebooks that had the original book notes in it had fallen off the desk and opened to a page, that said "THE SECRET IS IN THE PAGES" on the left side, i didn't know what it meant, i didn't write it. Anyhow, i read the pages and there it was "GOODBYE AND HAVE..." have is where I took over writing, but anyhow it was in each like begging like this:
g
o
O
d
B...and so on, it was kinda freaky.

You can put them in any order you want.... They are all their own kind of scary
1)Getting separated from my group while climbing a 14,000 ft mountain in Colorado.
2) Being held at gun point on a mountain road in El Salvador.(17 y/o)
3) Jail in Tijuana, Mexico
4) Watching the guy next to me get shot (Iraq)
5) Killing another human (Iraq)
6) The 2 seconds before impact in a head on collision
7) Getting pulled over by the cops with approx 20 lbs of pot in the truck. (didn't get caught... that was 15 yrs ago...)
8) getting off the bus for the first time at military basic training
9) the first night at home with our first child
10) George W Bush

My four year old daughter fell through a rubber ring while we were on holiday in Florida, and nearly drowned She was rushed to hospital and taken into emergency theatre , the doctors had to perform a procedure on her that was so dangerous they told me it was 50/50 whether she lived or died.Wating till the procedure was over was so scary and then waiting to see whether or not she had been brain damaged through lack of oxygen. Definitelty the most horrible and frightening thing i have ever experienced.

I would have to say it was when I was shopping at a mall with my daughter once when she was about 4 years old. For about five seconds, I couldn't find her. She ended up being a few feet away from me, but not where I could see her. It was the longest and scariest five seconds of my life. My heart was just pounding in my chest.

Seeing some of the beliefs expressed in this forum. I knew there were a lot of head cases out there but I never realized how wide spread the insanity had become.
