When I go into power management, the comp senses the batt and the amount of charge in it. If you unplug the power cord, the unit shuts off. It will not boot on battery either. Is there something in the software that prohibits battery usage?
Thanks for your help! Dave

Sounds like a short in the battery system. Have the unit checked out by a tech.

Two other tests you can do: Switch out the battery from another unit. If the battery works, then you know your battery is bad. If the battery acts the same, then it may be your computer. Put your battery into another unit and see if the problem persists there.

I believe your problem is the battery. I have seen it many times, where people leave their notebooks plugged in most of the time, then when they finally go to use it away from their desk it either doesn't work or the battery doesn't last nearly as long as it's should.

Follow the link below and take a look at the recalls and you might be able to get your battery replaced for free, because it looks like there was a recall on the battery in your notebook.
