This one is tricky.
Technically, this means that you are in the top 3%,
So using the formula: % * of =is for any statement: The "%" of this number is this number.
3% * x = 3609
.03 * x = 3609 <- always right percents as decimals
x = 120300
So this is the number of people in the pool

Being in the 97th percentile means that you're better than 97% of the population of the pool. Now, after this it gets a bit fuzzy - I'll *assume* that you're at the bottom of the 97th percentile, or at the bottom of the top 3%.
Take the 3609 and divide by 3 - you get 1203. That would mean this:
99th percentile (top 1%): places 1-1203
98th percentile (next 1%): places 1204-2406
97th percentile (next 1%): places 2407-3609
If there are 100 percentiles (0th percentile to 99th percentile), then multiply the 1203 by 100. That gives you 120,300 in the pool.
Now, this is "fuzzy" because I don't know how you fit in with the 97th percentile unless everyone within a percentile has the exact same score - I assumed you were at the bottom of your percentile so I could calculate a guess.
Now, let's assume you were at the "top" of your percentile - that would mean there are 3608 people rated higher than you, but all are within the 99th and 98th percentiles, or 1804 per percentile. Multiply that by 100, and you could have a pool of 180,400.
However, you could be somewhere in the middle of the pack - perhaps you're really better than 97.5% of the pool, or 97.3%, or 97.6%, etc. but they lumped all the "97's" (97.0 - 97.9) together. If so, there's really no way to tell the pool size without seeing all of the scores/ratings.....and then there's probably a total at the end of the list anyway.....
In short, there's really not enough information to accurately calculate the pool size.

If you are in the 97th percentile you should be able to figure out that easy math problem.

impossible to give an exact number, that is how it goes
if u are in the 97th percentile, 97% of the total number is around 3609, that means the total should be around
3609x100/97=3720 people

yep Ozone has the right number. Because 3609 is not the total number of people in the pool, 3721 {(100/97)(3609)} is the total number of people in the pool.

let pool = P then 0.96*P < 3609 and 0.97*P > 3609
hence P is between 3721 and 3759
