If you like him, why?

If you dislike him, do you ever listen to him? What do you dislike?

Either way, specifics. No name calling. Just facts.

Sunset Sam, do you listen to him? You did not answer the question. All you did is call him names and offer no evidence.

I have been listenning to Rush since 1988. not once have i ever heard him lie, be racist or distort the truth. he reports the news and tells you his admittedly biased right leaning opinion. liberals hate it when he reports the news and compares what liberals say today with what they said yesterday.

his comedy sketches are funny too.

unfortunatly i cant listen to him at work.

I enjoy a love/hate relationship with Rush. Yes, he is self involved which is off putting. As an admitted Republican his views are presented in a manner which I find to be unbalanced but I must admit to being entertained and learning something now and then. Sometimes though his prognostications of events yet to unfold leaves me wondering at the way his mind works. He usually has it dead on. Interesting guy. As to his drug habit, I believe he beat that quite some time ago so its not a matter of importance to me. When you're a high profile individual such as he you've always got a target on your back. It just comes with the territory. Live and let live.

Rush is an outstanding broadcaster. There is no denying that. He has a huge audience and he is very entertaining.

That is where my admiration ends.

He frequently uses half truths and assumptions to support his twisted ideas. HE also changes his positions and pretends he has never wavered.

Here is an example: During the 2000 election he talked about what a dishonest, unprincipled person Joe Lieberman is. Now he is strong Lieberman supported.

If you want to see another example, he has very few good things to say about John McCain. If McCain gets the nomination in 2008 watch how fast Rush changes his tune and insists he has always supported McCain.

As a person I could probably not get along with him.On politics the man is right more often than anyone has a right to be.
I started listening to him just about '91.I had just moved to Arkansas and there were no decent stations in the area. The people that lived there also filled me in on Clinton, they hated him.

Both. Some of his tirades are a little tiresome but I think he speaks more truths than most talking heads.

Thought he would have to go off the air when Bill/Hillary left office......His subject matter shrunk by 99%

Yes, I do listen.

I Love Rush - he has become a joke since it came out he was addicted to prescription drugs and going to multiple doctors and getting prescriptions under false pretenses (lying). The local police tried to access his medical records and he fought them (with the ACLU helping) by claiming his medical records were private. Crook, Liar, Hypocrite, Phony. Do as I say - not as I do.

He doesnt present the news - he said himself he is an entertainer. Sort of like Coulter. They both live in Palm Beach now. I wonder if they .........naah, even Rush wouldn't sink that low.

He is a small vicious mouthed man whose rants are designed to play and facilitate the worst inclinations of his listeners. He demeans and dirties every thing he touches and when he can't manipulate the truth, he just lies flat out. A hypocrite and a liar!

Years of ranting that :
"There's nothing good about drug use," he once said. "We know it. It destroys individuals. It destroys families. Drug use destroys societies. Drug use, some might say, is destroying our country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. And the laws are good because we know what happens to people in societies and neighborhoods which become consumed by them. And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up".

If Rush were the average citizen he'd still be in jail. Calling young girls dogs is beneath decent people. He's just a cur who would steal straw from his own mothers kennel.

I LOVE RUSH!!!!! I am fortunate to have a job where I can listen to him everyday. He exposes the liberals for who they really are on a daily basis. His research is impecable. We get to hear sound bites that other news outlets won't or can't broadcast. He
doesn't have many guests but when he does they are top notch. It is definatley an entertaining education in conservatism.

I dislike him. All he seems to know how to do is call Democrats all sorts of names. Political "commentators" like him have contributed greatly to the breakdown of political civility.

He conveys a very self-important, blustering, one-sided perspective that relies less on fact and more on vitriol and insult. He caters to a lesser intellect and is degrading the status of political debate. I can certainly listen to and appreciate a conservative viewpoint, but I'd much rather hear it from William F. Buckley or Ben Stein, who can convey their points smartly and with a sense of humor. Rush goes for the jugular simply to offend people's sensitivities (which neocons dismiss as "PC") and for ratings.

And yes, I've listened to him for both classes and to see what's coming out of his mouth for interest. There's so many holes in his arguments, you know he's picking and choosing his facts and sources in order to make his case. And you also have to consider he's largely preaching to the converted, who don't want to think critically more so than they want their own political views repeated back to themselves. People who consider him "news" are really just getting slanted commentary, no better than what you get from Air America....just far right of center.

Plus the guy -- for all of his moralistic upmanship -- is a druggie. If I wanted satirical rants from a user, I can pilfer my friend's Cheech and Chong collection. They're funnier, anyway.

One of the more unusual experiments was when Rush took his show to television. I watched him crash and burn every night, until it was cancelled. The message stays the same, but for some reason seeing Rush on TV repelled viewers, and he's since gone back to the more successful venue of radio.

Chainsaw -- you seem to have held me up to a higher standard than the other respondents, at least those who like Rush. Will you impress upon them as well to include evidence and indicate how much they listen to him as well, for fairness and balance? And what names have I called him in my response? I can't find any? Or were you just "baiting" folks with your otherwise neutral, open-ended question?

Again, I can entertain conservative viewpoints, as long as they're done accurately and intelligently. Buckley and Stein don't have my full agreement, but they do have my respect.
