Depends on what your Associates Degree is in..
In Kansas we have Associates Degrees in Nursing, and Radiology, and other fields.
Those Associate Degrees can lead to great paying jobs in good professions. You'll still do better with a Bachelors or a Masters, but they are a good starting point to a career, and you can then continue your education.
So, is it nothing? Nope, it's a great accomplishment, moving you towards the future.
(P.S. College Degrees are important just from the aspect of giving you a basis of learning, a starting point, and as a credential to show. Many, many, many of the most successful entrepreneurs and business people in this world don't have college degrees, so don't EVER let that hold you back.)

An Associate's Degree today is roughly the equivalent of a High School Diploma of 20 years ago. And it has about the same value because it's just an entry level educational certificate.
