... or does anyone else think that Ade Edmondson's character in Holby City isn't as funny as the ones he played in The Young Ones and Bottom?

Yeh... I think you're missing the point that Holby City isn't meant to be a comedy (despite unintentionally being hysterically funny). I think Ade is trying the tranfer to 'serious actor' ! Wrong programme Ade !

I've seen lumps of wood with better acting skills than the cast of Holby City.

I can't believe that Ade Eds wants to get into "serious" acting. If he did why would he choose Holby City?!

I saw Bottom Live once and I laughed til I cried and nearly peed my pants, whereas Holby City just makes me cry with shame at BBc dramas!

he isnt as funny in holby - but it does show his immense skill as an actor - the part he plays has alsorts of different sides - funny, sensitive, addict, .. I think it is a great role for him and wish he was a permanent fixture.

i agree. he is far too serious in holby. i preferred him in the young ones. he was comical

I havent seen his new stuff, but from watching (and loving) the young ones he certainly has ALOT to live up to or surpass, which must be pretty tough if you expect that to happen....
