In Life there are no guarantees. Freedom is another word for nothing left to lose.
Life is about the journey, the discovery, you make your own life, if something isn't working you change it. In the free world we are free to make our own decisions and free to live with the consequences.
Eventually you die and render the entire journey insignificant anyway.

i think that people "fail in life" because they lack motivation and/or are unhappy. and this, in turn, has a lot to do with the conditions they had while growing up. for example, the people with college educations might have a had very strict parents who discouraged them from having fun and playing, in favor of hitting the books day in and day out. the people who have a nice smile might have been raised in poverty or had experienced being abused in any way. and sometimes being too nice can be an indication of an eagerness to please, which in turn is a result of low self-confidence. and this might have been caused by a mother who never ever gave praise to her child... all of these reasons have a powerful effect on how people view life, and oftentimes their perceptions carry over into adulthood and affect the choices they make. their perceptions, formed during childhood and reinforced over the years, influence why they choose to be single, why they prefer to be loners, why they can't seem to save money.

i guess it's just so easy to make conclusions about people based on what we see. but there's a whole gamut of stories--ranging from the good to the bad--behind a person's nice smile, outgoing personality, or scholastic achievement. i guess what's important here is that we don't take things at face value and believe the best about people.

I have come to learn and understand those who are tormented in school, have nothing for themselves, and constantly are striving for their own sake, always end up on top at the end. Ever heard of the saying, "the grass isn't always greener on the other side?" That's what it really means. Those who go to college on scholarships and have their ways paid for them throughout, had it easy in school, and tend to lead what appears to be a good life, isn't always the case. (No matter what happens in this lifetime, everybody, it doesn't matter who you are, you have to pay your dues before you can have what you want). Many never find. Those who do, like those in college or who think they have it made in life, really do behind closed doors have a difficult time. On many occasions, they suffer from psychological torment, addiction, they are chronic suffers of many other things. What you need to remember is this, those who struggle from early on, had to work at a younger age, learned to grieve early, had to do without, hard times in school and at home, just general hell-in-a-handbasket type ordeals, are those who now to handle life a little easier throughout the rest of their days here. Granted, that doesn't mean they end up the happiest, some have had to deal with psychological breakdowns. But, the norm is that these people usually have it better in the end, because they paid their dues early in life.

Then there are those who have everything they could possibly want from the start of their life, all the way in their twenties. But, sooner or later, it all ceases to exist. The higher power says everybody pays their dues and these people are no different. It has also become the norm as a matter of fact, that wealthier people when their finances are suddenly taken away abruptly are more inclined to spiral downwards quicker, like suicide for instance. Do you realize, those you win lotteries have spent the winnings within a year tops and have taken their lives shortly thereafter.

Having everything, doesn't always mean you're on the top of the world. Look at many of the celebrities today, like Hailey Joel Osmond and Paris Hilton, they're wealthy, they have what they want in life, they have been given everything they could possibly desire, but, they were both just recently arrested for DUI. "Bigger people tend to crack and fall easier, while smaller people tend to rise to the top darkness of life." I'm sure you've of course heard of the actors Jim Carey and Tom Hanks? Well, do you know where Jim Carey was before he began his career as an actor? He was living out of his car on the streets of Canada. Tom Hanks had a rough childhood with a complusive religious mother who constantly picked her children up and moved them throughout the states most of Hanks' childhood. Through these ordeals, these hardships, if we set our mind in the realm of (faith and above all hope), eventually things change, that is the cycle of life. Whatever happens, you must stick to your game, when you feel yourself becoming depressed or guilty of your own existence of not being able to do more or not having more, take a look at what lies underneath of the real picture. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Many of those who had wished for it the way they wanted, I guarantee if they could do it again would not wish it the way it is now.

I don't know you and you don't know me, but perhaps just these few words can help you along your way. They have me in the past trying times of life and I through hope and faith have suceeded. I wish you the greatest, the best, and above everything else what you truly want in life. That is from the heart.

Best of luck to you. J.F.
